IPL 2023 Live: Jos Buttler registers 5th duck wicket in last 10 IPL innings

Jos Buttler has registered only 1 duck in his first 85 innings of IPL (2016-2022) and 5 ducks in last 10 innings (2023).

In yet another disappointing innings for Jos Buttler, the England batsman was dismissed for a duck during the match against Punjab Kings.

This marks his fifth duck of the season, adding to his struggles in the ongoing campaign. The dismissal came courtesy of a well-directed delivery from Kagiso Rabada, who induced an LBW appeal that was promptly answered by the umpire’s raised finger.

With the ball clocking at 142.9 kilometers per hour, Rabada bowled a slightly fuller length delivery that angled into Buttler. The Englishman found himself caught in his crease as he attempted to work the ball towards the leg-side.

After being beaten on the outside edge on two occasions earlier in the over, Buttler ended up getting beaten on the inside edge this time. The ball struck him on the front pad, right next to the off-stump.

The LBW decision was straightforward for the umpire, leaving Buttler with no hesitation in accepting his fate. He didn’t even consider challenging the decision through a review, fully aware that he had been dismissed plumb in front of the stumps.

The disappointment was evident as Buttler made his way back to the pavilion after yet another failure with the bat.
