Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have won the Indian Premier League (IPL) championship twice, have announced that West Indies batsman Johnson Charles will be taking the place of Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Das for the remainder of the 2023 IPL season. Litton Das had to depart from the tournament last week owing to a family emergency.

“Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday named Johnson Charles as a replacement for Litton Das for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023,” an IPL statement said.

Similar to Litton Das, Johnson Charles is also a wicketkeeper-batsman, and he has played 41 T20 Internationals for West Indies, accumulating 971 runs. He was part of the West Indies team that won the ICC World Twenty20 in 2012 and 2016. Charles has also participated in 224 T20 matches and has scored more than 5600 runs. According to the statement, he will be joining KKR for Rs 50 Lakh.
