Jason Roy, the explosive English opener, has joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad as a replacement for Shakib Al Hasan, who recently pulled out of the upcoming IPL 2023 without citing any significant reason.
Roy, who was previously part of the Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad brings a wealth of experience to the KKR lineup. He has played in numerous T20 leagues around the world, including the Big Bash League in Australia, the Pakistan Super League, and the Caribbean Premier League.
The Englishmen is known for his aggressive style of batting, which makes him a perfect fit for the KKR team. His ability to score quick runs at the top of the order will be crucial for KKR’s chances in the upcoming tournament.
Shakib’s absence is undoubtedly a blow for the KKR team, given his all-round abilities, but the inclusion of Roy is sure to boost the team’s confidence. KKR has a strong batting lineup with the likes of Nitish Rana, Venkatesh Iyer, and Andre Russell, and Roy’s inclusion will only make it stronger.
The Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the IPL in 2012 and 2014, will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing campaign in the previous season. With the tournament set to commence soon, the team will be hoping to start on a positive note.
