The nail-biting IPL 2023 Finals between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) finally resumed at 12:10 am after a series of rain delays. With a revised target of 171 runs in 15 overs, the atmosphere was electric as the players took the field with renewed energy and determination.
Opening the innings for CSK, Ruturaj Gaikwad wasted no time in making his presence felt. The first over, bowled by Shami, saw Gaikwad showcasing his skills and getting off to a flying start. Although he had a bit of luck with an edge shot, Gaikwad managed to score 10 runs in the over, setting the tone for CSK’s chase.
The edge shot off Shami’s bowling saw Gaikwad attempting a leg-side flick but getting a thick leading edge. The ball traveled towards deep backward point, where Rashid Khan was stationed. However, Khan fumbled slightly, allowing Gaikwad and his partner to sneak in for a second run. It was a fortunate break for Gaikwad and CSK, giving them the opportunity to capitalize on the early stages of the innings.
In the same over, Shami bowled a good-length delivery that shaped in towards the middle and off stump. Gaikwad, displaying his impeccable timing, executed a one-legged pull shot with precision and power. The ball raced away square on the leg-side, fetching him a boundary and adding valuable runs to CSK’s total.
