Andre Russell has always been a thorn in Rahul Tripathi’s side, and the trend continued during the latest KKR match against an opposing team. Cricket expert and on-air commentator Aakash Chopra predicted the incoming of Andre Russell’s over in the game was primarily to target Rahul Tripathi’s wicket. And indeed, Russell delivered, sending Tripathi packing after a brief flurry of hits.
Russell’s delivery was full at the stumps, tempting Tripathi to try and ramp it over the fine leg boundary. However, Tripathi’s attempt to be too cute backfired, as he ended up holing out to deep fielder Vaibhav Arora. After scoring 14 off the last three balls, was that shot really necessary?
Vaibhav was ecstatic with his catch and gave Tripathi a send-off as he departed the field.
While Tripathi’s innings was relatively short-lived, his contribution of 20 runs included three 4s and a 6. Nonetheless, his dismissal was a crucial turning point in the match, as the opposition had a strong opening partnership prior to his wicket.
