Rajasthan Royal’s Yuzvendra Chahal is one wicket away from becoming the leading spinner in the Indian Premier League with the most wickets. Chahal is now tied for the most wickets as a spinner with Imran Tahir in 2019, with a total of 26 wickets in a season.
Chahal is also topping the orange cap standings in the ongoing IPL 2022 with 26 wickets from 14 innings and a 7.67 economy rate.
This included a hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders earlier this season, which enabled the Royals to win the game.
Royal Challengers Bangalore released Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Despite being the team’s most successful bowler with 139 wickets, Mohammed Siraj was chosen over Chahal by the management.
The Royals then purchased him at auction for 6.50 crore. The owners’ decision proved to be a brilliant one.
Chahal also became just the second bowler in IPL history to take over 20 wickets in a single season. Chahal has now taken 20 wickets in each of the last four seasons: 2015, 2016, 2020, and 2022.
