IPL 2022: Rajat Patidar joins elite list of cricketers; becomes third batter to do so

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s top-order batsman Rajat Patidar became the first uncapped player and third cricketer to score 50+ runs in Eliminator and Qualifier of an IPL edition.

Indore-born cricketer Rajat Patidar again played a fine knock to take his side to a respectable total. Patidar played an innings of 58 runs off 42 balls, forming 70 runs partnership with Faf du Plessis. Patidar, a replacement for Luvnith Sisodia, became an essential part of the RCB squad. Additionally, he went on to play two vital knocks for RCB in the playoffs. With this inning, Patidar became the first uncapped player and third cricketer to score 50+ runs in Eliminator and Qualifier 2 of an IPL edition. Mr. IPL Suresh Raina (in 2014) and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson (in 2020) are the other two-player to achieve this feat.

In Qualifier 2, Patidar played a crucial inning of 58 runs off 42 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. Rajat supported Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell in the middle to keep the scoreboard ticking. Further, he welcomed Chahal with a massive six. Previously, Rajat scored a sensational 112* off 54 balls to take RCB to the Qualifier 2. His knock was praised by some of the greatest cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar.
