IPL 2022: Ninth loss for RCB in playoffs in history of the league

Royal Challengers Bangalore were eliminated from the playoffs on Friday after losing by seven wickets to Rajasthan Royals. This is the team’s ninth playoff loss in the league’s history.

In Qualifier 2, Royal Challengers Bangalore were defeated by Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. The ambition of many RCB fans and supporters came to an end with this loss. This is the team’s ninth loss in the playoffs and the eighth time when the team reached the playoffs but couldn’t lift the trophy.

RCB has played 15 IPL playoff matches so far, winning six of them and losing nine. The franchise has finished as a runner-up on three occasions, i.e., in 2009, 2011, and 2016. RCB qualified for the playoffs in the last edition but was defeated by KKR in the Eliminator.

On Friday, Coming from a win in the Eliminator, RCB put on a target of 158 runs for Rajasthan Royals. Rajat Patidar played an impressive inning of 58 runs off 42 balls. The total was chased easily by the Royals in 18.1 overs. Jos Butler became the second batsman after Virat Kohli to score four centuries in an IPL edition with his sensational knock of 106 runs off 60 balls. Rajasthan will now face the debutant Gujarat Titans in the playoffs.
