IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Devdutt Padikkal joins Rajasthan Royals for 7.75 crores

Devdutt Padikkal was bought for Rs 7.75 crores by Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan Royals have picked a strong young opener, Devdutt Padikkal at a heavy price of Rs 7.75 crores at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

RCB in the beginning participated in the bid to retain its young opener, Devdutt Padikkal. Rajasthan Royals joins along with them in the bidding war in order to get the left-handed batsman in their territory. After the first 2-3 bids, RCB lets him go away and it looked like a clean sweep for Rajasthan until Mumbai comes in to participate with them, bidding at Rs 4.60 crores.

It became a tough tussle between Rajasthan and Mumbai in order to find themselves a player who can open the innings with great runs. The bidding war went over Rs 6 crore, still both the teams didn’t want him to go away and continued bidding. Later on, the bid ended at Rs 7.75 crores, bought by Rajasthan Royals.

Rajasthan has already found Ashwin for Rs 5 crores in the role of a great spinner, and now Padikkal in the team as a batsman can prove for them to be a worthy decision.
