England Cricket Captain, Eoin Morgan who captains KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders) in the IPL is now seeming to be taken away by some other franchise. Despite Morgan leading KKR to the finals last year, the franchise did not retain him this year.
Morgan is known for his impeccable leadership skills. His batting performances might be questionable, but he will surely be in demand by the other franchises for considering him as the team’s captain. His base price is set as Rs 1.5 cr in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
These are the 3 teams eyeing for Eoin Morgan in the auction
1.) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
The franchise, which hasn’t even won a single IPL title yet, will be presenting a new look in this year’s IPL as Virat Kohli has stepped down from the captaincy. The team will also be missing the presence of a strong player, AB De Villiers who had announced retirement from all forms of cricket. The franchise will definitely be hunting for a captain with experience and thereby Eoin Morgan will surely be apt for this position. Eoin Morgan may not be able to fill the gap of the biggest hitter like ABD, but RCB is also looking forward to buying Shahrukh Khan to fill that gap. RCB will be having Rs 57 cr in their purse for auction.
2.) Punjab Kings
KL Rahul will not be leading the franchise this time as he will be captaining the new Lucknow Franchise, So the franchise will definitely be targeting Morgan to acquire the captain spot. The franchise has always been focusing on the opening department but lacked in the middle order. With Morgan as their captain, he will know his duty and bring a stabilized change in the middle order with his batting. Punjab picking Morgan would be beneficial as he can lead the team to the finals. Punjab is entering the auction with the highest purse value of Rs 72 cr.
3.) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
Although the team doesn’t require a captain because they have the best possible choice for that, Kane Williamson. But the franchise would need some experience and talent to get back to the high standards of cricketer it had produced over time, and Morgan fits for that. Morgan’s re-entry to the franchise can contribute in the middle order by hitting some finishing shots along with Manish Pandey. The combination of the ODI World Cup and Test championship-winning captains can prove to be a deadly duo for other teams.
