IPL 2022: Kane Williamson exits SRH bio-bubble to fly back home for the birth of his child

Kane Williamson, the captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, will leave the IPL bubble to travel to New Zealand for the birth of his second child.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) announced on its official twitter page on Wednesday that captain Kane Williamson will be flying to his homeland in Tauranga, New Zealand, for the birth of his second child. Williamson is unlikely to play in Hyderabad’s final IPL 2022 season match against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on May 22.

“Our skipper Kane Williamson is flying back to New Zealand, to usher in the latest addition to his family. Here’s everyone at the #Riser camp wishing Kane Williamson and his wife a safe delivery and a lot of happiness!” the tweet stated.

Williamson’s return to the country comes after the Hyderabad pretty much kept their playoff chances alive with a three-run win over the Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, however a lot will depend on the results of other games.

If Williamson is unable to play, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has previously captained Sunrisers, and Nicholas Pooran, West Indies’ new white-ball skipper, are among the possibilities to lead the team in their last league match against Punjab Kings.
