Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler has hit an undefeated 106 runs, marking his fourth century of the ongoing Indian Premier League season, tied Virat Kohli’s record for most hundreds in a single league season and was instrumental in RR’s triumph against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Qualifier 2 on Friday.
Virat Kohli hammered 973 runs and scored 415 runs in 2016, breaking a record that had held for 6 years. Buttler will have the opportunity to break Kohli’s record in this weekend’s final against the Titans.
Buttler, who had scored 89 runs in Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans, came up big once more in Qualifier 2, striking another critical fifty in 23 balls as RR attempted to knock down Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 158-run total.
Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 7 wickets in Ahmedabad on Friday to go to the IPL 2022 final, where they will face Gujarat Titans.
Buttler, on the other hand, shattered RCB’s hopes with another outstanding inning. He became only the third batsman after Virat Kohli and David Warner to score 800 runs in a single IPL season with his 106 not out off 60 balls.
