IPL 2022: Anrich Nortje fails to fill the shoes of Kasigo Rabada? Check why..

Delhi Capitals’ pacer Anrich Nortje isn’t having a great IPL so far as the bowler hasn’t even reached 10 wickets this season.

Delhi Capitals’ pacer Anrich Nortje is not in the brightest of form this season as he hasn’t even reached 10 wickets and is not a regular wicket-taker for the franchise. Anrich Nortje has been retained by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 mega auction as they believed the South African pacer would be an ideal match to fill in the shoes of Kasigo Rabada.

However, Anrich Nortje managed to scalp just 7 wickets this season at an economy rate of more than 10. These stats are not impressive from the pacer as compared to earlier seasons. Anrich Nortje performed well last season for the franchise when his camaraderie with pacer Kagiso Rabada was winning Delhi matches and helping mark their way to the playoffs. Surprisingly, Rabada wasn’t retained by Delhi Capitals, and thus, Punjab Kings bought him for 9.25 Cr in the mega auction. Rabada has taken 22 wickets so far with an average of 8.36 in IPL 2022 and is currently at the 3rd spot in the race for ‘Purple cap’.

Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje were one of the most dangerous duos in the IPL when they used to play for the same franchise (Delhi Capitals) but after Rabada left, Nortje’s stats dropped drastically. Due to his unimpressive form this season, he was also dropped from the playing XI by the franchise. Delhi Capitals is looking to make the most out of Kuldeep Yadav and David Warner but the side is feeling the heat of the void left by Kasigo Rabada and Shimron Hetmyer.
