IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals signs New Zealand’s cricketer, Glenn Philips

Rajasthan Royals signed New Zealand’s Glenn Philips for the UAE leg of the IPL 2021.


IPL 2021 was postponed due to COVID-19 situations in the country and the next leg is to start on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates. Rajasthan Royals signed have signed Glenn Philips for the UAE leg of IPL 2021. This is the first replacement for the franchise as England’s Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler are not available for this period.

Jofra Archer is not available amid his injury in the right elbow, as he suffered from a stress fracture and as per the reports he is not available for the complete year and may also miss the World Cup. Whereas Jos Buttler and his wife are expecting their second child. Though both the players were an asset for the team as Buttler scored his maiden T20 IPL century in the last game before the suspension of the tournament and was looking in great form for Rajasthan Royals.

Ben Stokes who recently took a break to concentrate on his mental well-being is also likely to miss the Tournament. He recently ruled himself out of the Test series between India and England as well. Stokes played a single match in this season of IPL as his finger was broken.

Philips who is a Wicketkeeper Batsman is making his debut in IPL is going to be a piece of great news for Rajasthan Royals as he is a great replacement for the Unavailable players. Philips has played 134 games with a strike rate of 143.28 which includes four hundred. He was a part of Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League.
