IPL 2020: KL Rahul sets numerous new records after magical innings

Captain of the Kings XI Punjab, KL Rahul became the first centurion of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, scoring 132 runs off just 69 balls against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday night. The innings comprised of 21 boundaries, which included 14 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 191.30.

KL Rahul’s score against RCB became the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the IPL surpassing the previous best of 128 runs set by Rishabh Pant of the Delhi Capitals. It is also the 4th highest all-time score in the IPL, behind Chris Gayle’s 175 runs, Brendon McCullum’s 158 runs and AB de Villiers’s 133 runs. In this process, KL Rahul also happened to become the first centurion of this year’s IPL setting another record in front of his name with his brilliant knock.

KL Rahul also added other notable records to his name after his magical innings against RCB. He became the fastest Indian batsman to reach 2000 IPL runs, he has the highest ever score by a captain in the IPL and the highest score by a KXIP batsman going past the previous best of 122 runs scored by the legendary Virender Sehwag when he was at the Kings XI.
