All that a team got in a T20 game is 20 overs or 120 deliveries which the batting team can utilize to score as many runs as possible. There’s not much time for the batters to get their eyes in. One of the most interesting and alluring aspects of the prestigious T20 league is the runs scored in the competition. Every boundary leaves the fans purring in delight and asking for more.
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just over a week away and all eight participating teams are in intense preparation for the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
1. Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have made it a habit of featuring in the high-scoring lists. A lot has been said about RCB’s batting prowess, ever since the days when Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and de Villiers played in the same XI before the West Indian was released ahead of the 2018 edition.
RCB has secured 200 plus 16 times in the IPL history. The total of 263/5 against Pune Warriors, scored back in 2013, is still unbroken and it remains as the highest-ever total any team has scored in the IPL. Over the years RCB has always been hailed as a very dangerous IPL team boasting of a galaxy of Indian and international stalwarts like Kohli, Aaron Finch, De Villiers, and Chris Morris.
So with such a strong batting powerhouse, it is safe to conclude that it is not too far until RCB cross the 250-mark again in this IPL.
2. Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders have been one of the primary entertainers at the Indian Premier League with their fearless brand of cricket over the years. They are renowned for their consistency and hard-hitting in recent years.
For the former champions, the batting lineup looks much more solid than last time with the promising Shubman Gill set to open the innings. All-rounder Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton, Nitish Rana, and Rahul Tripathi give the management a whole host of options.
KKR has eleven 200 plus scores in the IPL. Their highest-ever score in the IPL came against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) when they scored a mammoth 245/6 in the 2018 edition of the competition. Narine, Russell, and Karthik’s fiery innings bolstered the Knights to the colossal total on that day.
With Russell’s brutal hitting, and the experience of Morgan and Karthik, KKR’s batting on their day can take apart any bowling attack, and there will be no stopping them from setting daunting targets for their team.
3. Mumbai Indians
Undoubtedly, Mumbai Indians have the most complete batting line-up in this edition of the IPL. From attacking openers to stabilizers in the middle-order and powerful finishers, the players in MI fulfill each role in demand.
The defending champions have had a lot of hard-hitters in their ranks with the likes of Kieron Pollard, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya destroying opposition bowlers on many occasions. Mumbai Indians have posted a score of 200 or more 12 different times.
Hardik Pandya, who played a key role for the franchise in 2019, is once again expected to provide the X-Factor for them this season. If the trio of Rohit Sharma, Pollard, and Pandya get their eye in, there is no stopping them from scoring 250 plus for their team this season.
