Cricket as a game has a different passionate intensity in comparison to other sports, especially in India. We Indians are the biggest supporters of our teams, through the highs and even through the lows. However, the number of emotions invested by the fans at times can turn sour and even bitter when their team is faced with defeats. Something similar happened on Tuesday evening when RCB was knocked out of the IPL 2021, after facing a defeat against KKR.
After a decent campaign in the league stage and qualifying for the playoffs with games to spare, the hopes of RCB fans were sky-high. They almost expected their team to go all the way and win the title. It all was reduced to nothing when KKR defeated RCB by 4 wickets to spare. Several fans after this went on social media to thank their team for being a good sport and giving them some great time. Although not everyone was an admirer of their team’s effort and vent their frustration over another trophyless season.

Hitting back at such people RCB allrounder Glenn Maxwell opened up on Twitter and shared a post in which he called them horrible people. Glenn wrote on his social media account, “Some of the garbage that has been flowing on social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who are giving out best each and every season.”
He further appealed to the fans to be decent and show appreciation instead of spreading abuse. While directly addressing the social media issue he further stated, “Unfortunately there are some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be.”
Noticeably, this was Virat Kohli’s last stint as captain. Therefore the fans were upset over the fact that their team couldn’t win a title this season to pay homage to their most successful and charismatic captain.
