Gautam Gambhir hits back at senior journalist over criticism of Virat Kohli spat during IPL Match

“Bhagore apni adalat chalate hai,” Gautam Gambhir slams Rajat Sharma’s speech on cricketer’s ego…

On Wednesday, Gautam Gambhir responded to senior journalist Rajat Sharma’s remarks regarding his altercation with Virat Kohli during the May 1, 2023 IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Twitter.

Sharma had criticized Gambhir’s behavior during the incident, labeling him as ‘egoistic and arrogant’ during a broadcast, and noting that his conduct was unbecoming of a former player and Member of Parliament.

Addressing the quarrel between the two players Rajat said, “After winning elections and becoming the member of Parliament, Gautam Gambhir’s ego has increased. His jealousy towards Virat Kohli’s fame could be seen clearly. Virat Kohli is someone who always remains aggressive and doesn’t tolerate any nonsense and hence, he gave a befitting reply to Gautam Gambhir. But overall, Gambhir’s behaviour was against sportsmanship and it doesn’t suit a former player or a member of Parliament. Such incidents spoil the spirit of cricket and hence, this shouldn’t have happened.”

Gambhir used his Twitter account on Wednesday to respond to Sharma’s remarks indirectly, and accused him of promoting public relations under the guise of journalism. Additionally, he criticized the senior journalist for resigning from the position of DDCA President under the pretext of ‘pressure’.

Gambhir wrote, “Man who ran away from Delhi Cricket citing “pressure” seems over eager to sell paid PR as concern for cricket! यही कलयुग़ है जहां ‘भगोड़े’ अपनी ‘अदालत’ चलाते हैं।”
