CSK went into the second innings having to chase down a total of 173 runs after an impressive batting performance from KKR. Ruturaj Gaikwad who played a match-winning knock for Chennai in the last game had another impressive performance, which eventually laid the foundation for CSK to win the match. He scored 72 runs in 53 balls which was followed by a match winning cameo by Ravindra Jadeja of 31 runs in just 11 balls.
Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner who got his first national call up for Team Indian this week had another brilliant effort with the ball in hand, conceding 20 runs and picking up 2 wickets in his 4 overs. Pat Cummins was the only other bowler to have picked up wickets as he finished with figures of 2/31 in his 4 overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders have just one game remaining in the tournament after today’s defeat and would require help from other teams if they are to make it to the playoffs.
