It was a Milestone game for Shikhar Dhawan as he plays his career 300 T20 last night (Monday) against Chennai Super king in a top-of-the-table clash. Both Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings have already qualified for the playoffs and were looking to cement a top spot in this year’s IPL.
Dhawan shocked the world and burst through the scene on his Test debut against Australia by scoring the fastest test century by a debutant. Dhawan has an impressive ODI and T20 record and has scored 17 centuries in one-day cricket and also has a very impressive T20 record.
Dhawan started his IPL journey with Delhi but switched sides with Mumbai and eventually Hyderabad where he had some of the best years of his career. In the 2019 auction, Dhawan was picked by Delhi again and in the following season, he had a fruitful outing when he became the first batsman to score back to back a century in the league.
Shikhar is known for his aggressive batting especially in the ICC tournaments. At the 2015 ICC world cup, he was the leading run-scorer for India and because of his iconic mustache and celebration he is nicknamed “Gabbar”. The Indian batsman has an impressive record to his name like he is the fastest batsman to reach 1000 runs in ICC tournaments. Most runs in ICC champions trophy in both 2013 and 2017 editions is also against the opener’s name.
Shikhar’s 39 runs in 35 balls considered to be so important for the Delhi Capitals as they jumped on top of the table where they were before the start of the second phase of the IPL 2021. Delhi Capitals are now placed on 1st with 20 points in 13 games.
