Delhi Capitals to revamp support staff for IPL 2024 after disappointing season

Following a lackluster performance in IPL 2023, the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise is gearing up for a major restructure of its support staff ahead of the upcoming IPL 2024. Despite their underwhelming season, head coach Ricky Ponting will retain his position, indicating the management’s confidence in his leadership. In a recent tweet, DC co-owner Parth Jindal assured fans that preparations were underway to elevate the franchise’s standing in the tournament.

As part of the overhaul, the team is expected to part ways with assistant coaches Shane Watson and James Hopes, who respectively served as assistant coaches and fast bowling coaches. This move aims to streamline the support staff and bring about greater clarity in the team’s operations.

On the other hand, Ajit Agarkar, who has been an assistant coach for the past two years, is reportedly set for a promotion within the coaching setup. Additionally, Pravin Amre will be granted more authority in directing the team, leveraging his experience in building a strong core of young players since 2015.

DC has no immediate plans to fill the positions vacated by Hopes and Watson with substitute coaches. The focus lies on optimizing the support staff structure to enhance performance and clarity within the team.
