“I think we’ve been able to build a very strong core group,” says Delhi Capitals’ chairman Parth Jindal

Delhi Capitals on Day 2 are looking to target some U-19 boys at the IPL Auction 2022.

Parth Jindal, the chairman of Delhi Capitals feels very contented with the players they have bought yesterday at the IPL Auction 2022, Day 1.

Parth in an interview with Boria Majumdar from Revsportz said, “I think we’ve been able to build a very strong core group with picks like David Warner, Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Marsh, Kuldeep Yadav. Even Mustafizur Rahman came at a very good price and he is a bowler who has improved and coming back to his form of best”.

Parth feels that overall he is satisfied but could have left a little bit of money for today. He believes that they pushed very hard for Shardul, but given the circumstances, they had to do that otherwise they wouldn’t have got him.

Parth said that when they entered the auction, they were aware of the fact that, they had the lowest amount of money amongst everyone. So their intention was to grab some high marquee players but they also needed the value players, and one name that stuck with them was Kuldeep Yadav.

Parth about Kuldeep says, “I don’t think he has been handled well in IPL for the last few seasons, he is a player who rides very much on confidence. In the environment, we’ve created at Delhi Capitals with Ricky Ponting and Rishabh Pant, it is something that we want to give him. He has a lot to prove, and I think the fire in his belly is there and we are very keen to see what he does in IPL”.

As far as Day 2 is concerned, the franchise will be aiming to build backups, in case some key players get unavailable due to international games or an injury. They are also aiming for players who can sustain within the team for future IPLs. They will also be targeting some fresh U-19 boys at the auction.
