Delhi Capitals become the first team in the history of IPL to defeat CSK and MI in both the group matches of a season

Delhi Capitals on Monday defeated Chennai Super Kings by a slender margin, to complete the double on the team for the second season straight. As if it was not an achievement in itself, the Delhi had boys also defeated the Mumbai squad for the second time in this season. Now, by beating Chennai for the second time this season, they became the first team in the history of IPL to do that. Yes, Delhi Capitals became the first team to defeat both CSK and MI in both the group games of a season.

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the two household names in IPL. Ever since the advent of the tournament in 2008, these two teams have managed to steal all the spotlight. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have dominated the seasons even in the years where they did not manage to win the tournament. They hold the record for the highest number of appearances in the finals. Chennai tops the list with 8 appearances while Mumbai has 6, out of which Chennai has won 3 finals, while Mumbai Indians has won 5. Therefore, completing a double on either of these teams in a season is considered a great feat, but defeating both the teams in the same season, that too twice speaks volumes about the great prowess that Delhi Capital possesses.
