After a fabulous 4th title win it does not come as a surprise that CSK is looking forward to retaining their captain who will turn 41 next year. CSK made a great comeback this season after finishing 7th, their career-worst, in the last season. While everyone had written off CSK as daddy’s army and a finished team with no youth to carry it forward, the Chennai team made a great comeback this season by not only become the first team to qualify for the Playoffs with 3 games in hand, but they also defeated KKR who was the dark horse of this season in the second leg.
All being said, the retention of MS Dhoni will not be an easy feat in the next season. The man himself as mentioned it, and an official has voiced the same thoughts while speaking to the PTI. “The rules of retention are not clear yet… we are not sure about the number of retentions that will be allowed. And a call on that will be made once the ruled are known,” the official said in his statement.
Dhoni himself to have mentioned the same thing twice. With the announcement of two teams by BCCI, several changes are to be in order and no assumptions can be made regarding the same until the official word is out. Although Dhoni has also mentioned making a roadmap for the upcoming 10 years of CSK, the fans will be hoping that someone the charismatic man remains on the side of the Yellow Army.
