In the ongoing match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), the final ball of the 9th over became a point of contention between the two teams. The incident occurred when CSK batters Rahane and Conway took the decision to take the DRS after believing that the delivery from Adam Zampa was a wide ball. This resulted in Zampa having to bowl the last ball again, much to his displeasure.
Zampa, who was already under pressure, had to regain his focus and bowl the final delivery once again. As he bowled to Rahane, the delivery was called as two wides, and there was a stifled appeal for LBW. The ball had drifted down and Rahane missed the sweep, with the ball brushing his pad on the way to short fine.
In fact, CSK had reviewed for a wide delivery, and the UltraEdge showed no spike as it passed the batsman. This put an end to the confusion, and the decision stood. However, Zampa was clearly unhappy with having to bowl the last ball again, as he felt that he was being unfairly targeted.
