CSK CEO Kasi Viswanath has rubbished the rumours of Dawid Malan replacing CSK vice-captain Suresh Raina for IPL 2020. The franchise has not made anything official and has stayed silent on any replacement since the southpaw decided to fly back to India. On Friday rumours started emerging that No.1 ranked T20I batsman Dawid Malan, who has been in fantastic form of late, might replace the former India batsman.
Viswanathan denied the reports and clarified that the foreign quota of the side os full as they already have 8 overseas players.“This is news to me as well because our quota of foreign players is already full. So I don’t know how we can have another foreigner in the squad,” Viswanathan told.
When he was questioned that if the rumours are due to a foreign player being injured, he clearly denied.
The statement by the CEO also clarified the availability of Dwayne Bravo as he did not play the CPL final due to an injury. CSK has had setbacks this season with not only Suresh Raina but also Harbhajan Singh pulling out of the season due to personal reasons. The CSK management has not named any replacement for either of the two veteran cricketers.
In some positive news for the three-time champions, medium pacer Deepak Chahar was cleared to train from Friday. “Deepak has all the necessary clearance from the CSK and BCCI side and will start training from today,” he said.
