Rajasthan Royals could face scrutiny after a viral video showed a member of their support staff allegedly using a mobile phone in the dugout during the IPL match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati.

As per IPL rules, mobile phones and electronic devices are not allowed in the Player and Match Officials Area (PMOA), including dressing rooms and dugouts, due to anti-corruption protocols. The clip, which has circulated widely, appears to show a staff member seated next to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi using a phone during live play.

Clear breach or misunderstanding? BCCI yet to respond

If confirmed, the incident would amount to a direct breach of the Board of Control for Cricket in India anti-corruption code. The board has not issued any statement so far, but the footage has raised questions.

Was permission granted for any specific reason? Why was the breach not flagged during the match itself?

If found guilty, the individual involved could face sanctions ranging from fines to a ban from entering the PMOA. The franchise could also come under scrutiny depending on the findings. Was it a lapse in protocol or a serious violation ?

Sooryavanshi’s storm is not slowing down

The controversy comes on a day when Rajasthan Royals dominated on the field. Chasing 202, Sooryavanshi scored 78 off 26 balls, helping his side close in on the target early.

He was supported by Dhruv Jurel, who added 81, as RR completed the chase comfortably and continued their strong run this season.

Despite the win, Sooryavanshi admitted he wanted to do more and was disappointed at getting out early, saying he could have finished the game sooner or added extra runs.

The focus, however, may now shift off the field. Will the BCCI step in? Will there be an investigation? And if rules were broken, will strict action follow?
