Indian batsmen Shreyas Iyer is on the list of Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB), who are targeting him as their next likely skipper.
After Virat Kohli quit the captaincy role RCB is really interested in Shreyas Iyer as their captain in the upcoming IPL season. Expect them to bid strongly for the Mumbaikar in the mega auction of the IPL which will be held in Banglore.
The Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders are also interested in the seasoned player and will be competing against RCB for him in the auction. Iyer, as is clear now, wants to be named as the skipper of whichever team he plays for.
When Delhi Capitals appointed Rishabh Pant as their captain the middle order batsmen quit the team and made it clear that he wishes to be the captain in whichever team he plays for.
He is not likely to join the two new franchises from Lucknow or Ahemdabad as they have not offered him the captaincy role.
Shreyas Iyer is a proven captain as he led Delhi Capitals to the final of the 2020 season of the IPL which was played against Mumbai Indians. He also is an explosive player with the bat and can contribute to the team in all the possible ways, which makes him a good asset to have in a team.
It is evident we will see Shreyas Iyer in a new franchise with the captain’s armband in the upcoming season of the Vivo IPL 2022.
