The IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abruptly abandoned after 10.1 overs due to a power-related disruption at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
Punjab Kings were cruising at 122/1, led by an explosive 50 off 28 balls from Prabhsimran Singh and a strong 70-run opening partnership from Priyansh Arya, before the game was halted. Initial confusion surrounded the interruption as multiple floodlight towers began failing. Two floodlight towers reportedly went out one after another, and eventually the match could not proceed further.
The official word is that the match has been abandoned due to a power outage resulting from a major technical failure in the area, which led to one of the floodlight towers shutting down. The BCCI has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to spectators present at the stadium.
While no security concerns have been officially cited, earlier reports suggested the possibility of a security-related issue. However, no confirmation has been received from IPL or law enforcement authorities in this regard.
As of now, no update has been provided on whether the match will be rescheduled or deemed null. Further details are expected from the IPL governing council.
