The IPL 2024 group stage has concluded, and the knockout rounds are set to begin. In the meantime, broadcaster Star Sports has shattered viewership records.
From just 59 matches, the Star Sports Network has clocked 520 million views on television, marking a significant 16% growth in viewership.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) always generates immense excitement, especially with the ICC T20 World Cup on the horizon. Fans have been eagerly tuning in to see how players perform in the lead-up to the ICC event.
Two standout players this season have been Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli’s exceptional batting and Bumrah’s superb bowling have captivated audiences. However, former India skipper MS Dhoni has also drawn massive attention, evoking nostalgia and fan fervor.
Fans have filled stadiums and watched matches live on TV to see these stars in action. Kohli’s heroics led Royal Challengers Bangalore to the knockouts, narrowly avoiding elimination. Bumrah’s Mumbai Indians had a tough season, while CSK, under Dhoni, missed out on the fourth spot to RCB.
With a 16% increase in viewership from just 59 matches, it is expected that the total viewership for all 70 matches will be even higher.
