Indian Premier League 2022 will witness 1200 players to be auctioned as more than one thousand cricketers have been registered for this year’s mega auction.
One of the big names this year is Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer who was not retained by his team Delhi Capitals. Shreyas captained the team for years until last year when his injury forced him to not play the IPL season and Pant got the opportunity to captain, which somehow benefited Rishabh Pant as the Indian Test captaincy suggestions and talks include Pant’s name as a leader too.
Along with Shreyas Iyer is the Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who recently played two games of One Day International against South Africa. Chahal was surprisingly not included in the retain list and might go at a higher rate. And even if RCB is thinking to buy Chahal again at the auction, the bids might make them regret it.
David Warner, Australian opening batsman is also in the mega auction’s list as David and his former team Sunriser Hyderabad departed relations due to the poor performance of David Warner. It was obvious to witness David in the auctions as the rift between Warner and SRH didn’t just stop till season but continued till farewell.
Apart from these three big and surprising talks, the 10 teams might not think twice before putting money on Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur as well as Deepak Chahar (The Chennai Super Kings pace duo). Harshal Patel as well as Avesh Khan who were among the top wicket-takers last year will also be witnessed in the auction along with the young spinners Rahul Chahar and Washington Sundar. These players might get bid above 5 crores and shall rate their respective values till 15 to 16 crores.
The overseas players in the mega auction have some big names too. Starting with David Warner then comes to South African pacer Kagiso Rabada who can also get a higher value because of his performance. Mark Wood, Mitchell Marsh, Trent Boult, and Pat Cummins are also some of the valuable players in the auction. The experienced duo of Chennai Super Kings – Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis might still be considered by their former franchise CSK.
