Rajasthan Royals (RR) have roped in former Sri Lanka bowler Lasith Malinga as their new fast bowling coach. The paceman, known for his sneaky action and deadly Yorkers, will join the Rajasthan Royals coaching team.Β

This will be Malinga’s second tenure as an IPL coach. With 170 wickets in 122 matches, Malinga is now the most prolific wicket-taker in the history of the IPL. The 38-year-old is one of the few players in the league who has only played for one franchise. With Mumbai Indians, the pacer won five IPL titles and played a pivotal role in each of the franchise’s winning campaigns.

Malinga, who was considered as one of the most lethal fast bowlers over his playing days, will team up with India’s Navdeep Saini and Prasidh Krishna, as well as Trent Boult of New Zealand and Obed McCoy of the West Indies, at the Rajasthan Royals.Β

On March 29, the Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL 2022 season against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sanju Samson, one of the three players retained by the team ahead of the major auction in February, will lead the team.
