With an increasing number of captains taking the field, it will be important to understand who should take the batten of captaining India.

IPL 2022 has witnessed a boom in the number of Indian players captaining the sides and hence the Indian Cricket is larger than just fine-fettle. As the IPL 2022 moves into the final week of its league with play-offs on edge, teams are still in the contention to make it through the knockout stage. The new season bought the co-occurrence of two new seasons and a change in leadership at many franchises. Let’s analyze how these progressive captains have faced the game so far.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya astonished everyone with his fine leadership skills in his captaincy debut. His captaincy stunt helped the Gujarat Titans qualify as the top team in their debut season. The all-rounder is aggressive in bringing out the best from his team. Pandya has developed a fearless mindset in the Gujarat Camp that can be seen in some of the GT’s innings this season. Hardik shows calmness on the ground. Hardik the Captain has been a new surprise fact this season. He credited Mumbai Indians for his success as the captain of Gujarat Titans, “It has helped me,” he said.

KL Rahul

New arrivals Lucknow Super Giants‘ purchase of KL Rahul made him the highest-paid player in the league and it is quite equitable to say that the Indian Vice-Captain has met the expectations of the Franchise. LSG has almost registered a berth in the playoffs and could finish at 2nd place in the points table. As a leader, Rahul has led from the front with two centuries and is the second-highest run-getter next to Jos Buttler in the league.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant has done extraordinarily well in leading Delhi Capitals to a fighting place on the leader board. At the beginning of the season, Delhi struggled with the absence of overseas players and was then affected by Covid – 19 twice, forcing the entire team into the bio bubble. His form is inconsistent but he is phenomenal as a leader this season.
