In an episode of the show Game Plan ( IPL Auction Special) former Indian pacer and of the best players for team India suggested a key solution for IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Ajit Agarkar stated that if the veteran and former captain of team India and RCB Virat manages to take back his role of captaincy for his franchise, the management shall be relieved with the questions of who is going to be the next captain and what changes the team shall see. Ajit in favour of Virat’s leadership role suggested that Virat is the right candidate to be the captain of the team.
“If Virat Kohli can take over the captaincy and if he is happy to do it and if he has the energy to do it I think that will be the easiest solution for them,” commented Ajit Agarkar.
Virat stepped down from the role of captaincy after leading the team RCB for the last time in the season of the year 2021, thereafter got retained by RCB before the upcoming Mega Auction on February 12 and 13. Virat was retained for ₹ 15 crores for the IPL season in 2022.
Virat on September 16, 2021, announced to discontinue being the captain for team India in the T20 format after the ICC T20 World Cup and promised to continue playing as a batsman for the team. Virat continued to shock his fans as he decided to step down from the Test captaincy on January 15, 2022, which was a huge blow in team India’s management as BCCI is still looking for a consistent captain. Virat was not considered to be the captain for the ODI format. Virat stated that he was not aware of removing him from the leadership role for the ODI series as well.
