Indian team adapting to new surroundings says Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is confident the team will be ready for the changes which have occurred in the past few months.

Many things have changed in Indian cricket in the last three months since Virat Kohli dropped a bombshell after the T20 world cup that he will be stepping down as T20I captain, with Rahul Dravid taking the charge of the head coach position is also an addition to the team.

Virat Kohli’s decision to step down as the Test captain just after the series loss to South Africa has not helped, Leaving the team look a bit vulnerable for the series against South Africa which is starting on 19 January. The Indian Squad needs a leader which could restore some stability in the side.

“Change is the only constant and we are happy, I can’t speak for everyone but I can say that for me, it doesn’t really make much of a difference. All the players are responding to the changes that have happened and everybody is respectful and understands how the processes are going,” said Bumrah who is the deputy for the ODI series to TNN as reported by TOI.

The current bunch of lads has been used to the Shastri-Kohli leadership template. Whereas Dravid’s way of functioning is completely different and the group is yet to settle down with changes in the way they function.

KL Rahul & Bumrah have been given the responsibility to lead the team as captain and vice-captain for the ODI series against South Africa. This series will be a good opportunity for the players to audition for the captaincy role and be impactful leaders for the side.
