When the favourite team of any IPL fan scores runs it has always been the moment of joy and Indian country has specifically felt the connection of cricket with emotions around the most loved and most-viewed sport.

The IPL time is famous in India as the hardcore fans don’t miss even a single ball and stick to their chairs and couches to gaze on some record-breaking performance by the respective franchises. Fans and viewers cry out loud when the big names stand and deliver showers of sixes all around the stadium. Virat, Chris Gayle, Dhoni, and AD de Villiers are some of the big names where fans blindly expect to watch the richest cricketing league – IPL, assuring a memorable entertainment experience.

The 20 overs game has oftentimes witnessed a good-scoring game which statistically shows that around 170-190 runs fans can probably witness a tough fight between two respective teams but at times some of the teams have fortunately crossed the unexpected mark of ‘200 runs’ which certainly becomes one-sided at times because of the unpredictable batting by the dominating team. The ‘highest team total’ talks never leave behind the unbelievable team of Royal Challengers Bangalore as their record of the highest team total has still been a doubt to get broken by any other side of the Indian Premier League. Royal Challengers Bangalore have an ironical record of the lowest team total in the IPL history as well and are still grinding hard to win their first IPL championship trophy.

Royal Challengers Bangalore on 23rd April 2013 shocked the cricketing world by scoring the record-breaking 263 runs by losing just 5 wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The score was scored at an average run rate of 13.15, where Chris Gayle still stands on with pride of his record scoring 175* runs. The one-man show helped team RCB to make this historical record as no other team has been able to score more than 250 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2016 tried their best to break their own achieved record of 263 runs as they were very close to the record-breaking score. RCB in 2016 knocked a total score of 248 runs against team Gujrat Lions where the magnificent duo of skipper Virat and legendary AB de Villiers scored their respective centuries. AB stood not out for 129 runs with a stunning strike rate of 248.07 whereas Kohli got out after hitting 109 runs in 55 balls. RCB managed to hit an average run rate of 12.4 in Bengaluru.

Mumbai Indians have recently scored their highest team total in the IPL history as the five-time IPL winners scored 235 runs in Abu Dhabi, in the previous year 2021. Mumbai Indians lost 9 wickets in the game by scoring at an average run rate of 11.75 against team Sunrisers Hyderabad. Two promising Indian capped players Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav helped the team to make this exciting record. Kishan scored 84 runs in 32 balls whereas Suryakumar Yadav knocked brilliant innings of 82 runs.

Chennai Super Kings have been oftentimes witnessed to score more than 200 runs very easily as the balanced team of young and aggressive players along with the experienced legends have made it possible. Chennai Super Kings in 2010 scored their team’s highest team total of 246 runs which is the third-highest team total in the IPL history and fans rarely watch their teams score more than 240 runs. Chennai Super Kings initiated the highest team total on 19th April 2008 where team CSK scored 240 runs with an average run rate of 12 runs per over. The team scored twice the amount of balls they played ( 120 balls ) in the first edition of the Indian Premier League.

Two-time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders have been witnessed to reach the 230 mark twice in the IPL history with their highest team total being 245/6 against Kings XI Punjab ( Punjab Kings now) in the year 2018. Eden Gardens were fortunate enough to watch their home team KKR bashing Mumbai Indians for 232 runs in the year 2019.

Punjab Kings have managed to the highest run total of score their highest team total of 232 runs in 2011 against team Royal Challengers Bangalore and have also scored 231/4 against team Chennai Super Kings in 2014. While Punjab hit two 230-runs plus knock against two big teams, Delhi Capitals managed to hit their highest total of 231 against Punjab Kings.
