Shikhar Dhawan and their wife Ayesha Mukherjee have parted ways after eight years of marriage, as per a post made by the Indian batsman’s wife on Instagram. Opening batsman Dhawan married his wife Ayesha Mukherjee in 2012 and he adopted two daughters from her earlier marriage with an Australian businessman. The couple even had a son from this marriage, Zoravar who was born in December 2014.

Ayesha announced this news from her new Instagram page, “Aesha Mukerji’ today as her original profile with the name of ‘Ayesha Dhawan’ was deleted from the social media site and sources who have been aware of these developments confirmed the news to ANI also. The couple was an unlikely match with her being 12 years older than the cricketer and being a divorcee but they matched together quite well and looked in love whenever they were seen together. They both tied the knot on the 30th of October 2012.

Ayesha, who is originally from West Bengal, was brought up in Melbourne since she was eight. She was an amateur boxer and someone who loved sports and hence it was no surprise that she and Dhawan fell in love. Her earlier with an Australian businessman led to two daughters: Aliyah who was born in 2000 and Rhea who was born in 2005. Dhawan adopted both of her daughters.

Meanwhile, Dhawan is yet to confirm this news as he was last seen leading a young side in the tour of Sri Lanka. He captained them for six limited-overs matches with Rahul Dravid being the coach of the team. He won the ODI series 2-1 but lost the T20I series with the same score to the home team. He is currently eyeing a place in the T20 World Cup squad which will be announced on Wednesday.
