Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar will not play the remainder of the IPL 2021 due to injury

Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the second phase of the IPL 2021 due to a finger injury. He got injured in England when he was selected for the 5-Test match series and was been forced to fly back to India because of that injury.

The Indian all-rounder, Washington Sundar will not be featuring in any games for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the remainder of the IPL 2021 which will be played in UAE because of his finger injury. He suffered from an injury when he was with the squad in England for the 5-Test match series against them. The 21-year-old left-handed batsman had to fly back to India along with Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan who also suffered from an injury in England.

Washington Sundar played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first phase of the IPL 2021 in April and May which was held in India. The Indian all-rounder gave a decent performance in the first half of the IPL 2021 as he managed to take three wickets in six matches for RCB. As Sundar will not be seen in the remainder of the IPL 2021, Akash Deep, a Bengal state cricketer has been named as his replacement.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore’s all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the Vivo IPL 2021 due to an impending finger injury. Akash Deep, a state cricketer from Bengal and net bowler with the franchise has been named as a replacement,” RCB’s official statement read.

Washington Sundar became the youngest ever Indian player in history to debut in T20I’s at the age of 18 years and 80 days in the year 2017. The left-handed batsman and the right-arm spin bowler was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2018 IPL auction. After a good performance in the T20I’s for the Indian team in recent years, he was selected in the Indian Test squad in 2021 for the Australia tour.
