India vs England: Michael Vaughan criticizes England for resting Jonathan Bairstow

Former English captain Michael Vaughan castigated England selectors for resting Jonny Bairstow for the first two Tests against India. This is the second time that Vaughan lashed out at England for keeping Bairstow who “plays spin well”, out of the first two games.

“Surely @jbairstow21 stays with the Test team for the start of the #India series … makes no sense that a player who has only just got his Test place back & plays spin is well is resting!!!! #SLvENG !!#OnOn,” Vaughan tweeted.

Bairstow made his comeback in Test in the Test series against Sri Lanka. He put strong efforts to keep up partnerships with Joe Root in both the Tests. He showed adaptability when the openers Zak Crawley and Dom Sibley struggled to score runs in the sub-continent.

Earlier Vaughan had tweeted, “The only player in England’s Top 3 that’s playing the sub-continent conditions with any control or calmness is resting for the first 2 Tests against the best Team in world at home #India!!! The world is officially mad … #SLvENG.”

England have rested Jonathan Bairstow, Sam Curran and Mark Wood for the first two Tests against India. The first Test is starting on February 5 in Chennai.
