IND W vs AUS W: Australia wins the match with a dramatic last-over triumph, their fifth in a row

Meg Lanning scored a captain’s century as Australia beat India Women’s Cricket Team by six wickets. Meg Lanning hit a 97-run knock in 107 deliveries to lead her team to a thumping victory. India batted first and set Australia a goal of 278 runs

In their sixth match of the competition, India made a solid 277/7 against Australia, with Mithali Raj, Yastika Bhatia, and Harmanpreet Kaur all scoring half-centuries. Mithali and Yastika put on a solid partnership that accumulated 130 runs for the third wicket as India recovered from two early wickets.

While Mithali and Yastika put on a 130-run third-wicket stand, Harmanpreet and Pooja Vastrakar put on 64 runs in 46 balls for the seventh wicket.

The two batters’ late flourish ensured that Mithali Raj and Yastika Bhatia’s earlier hard work did not go to waste. The resiliency came late, after the Aussie bowlers had controlled the middle overs.

After India scored 277/7 batting first in Auckland, Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes got Australia off to a blazing start in their chase. Before succumbing to Sneh Rana, Healy hit her half-century in 49 balls. Soon after, Rachael Haynes was eliminated, but Australia’s skipper Meg Lanning seized command of the pursuit and put the team back on cruise mode. Ellyse Perry played second fiddle to Lanning in the partnership, which eventually reached 50.

After resuming play following a weather delay, Australia lost Ellyse Perry for 28 runs, followed by skipper Meg Lanning for 97 runs. However, India’s late comeback was too little, too late, as Australia managed to reach the mark with three balls to spare.
