The new captain of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, Shreyas Iyer, played a fierce inning of 57 runs in 28 balls with a strike rate of 203.57. Kishan and Iyer’s exceptional batting display helped India reach a total of 199 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.
Sri Lanka’s innings started with Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fury. Bhuvi seized the wicket of both the openers and ended up his two-over spell by giving away just nine runs. For Sri Lanka, Charith Asalanka (53) was the only batsman who fought hard. Sri Lankan batsmen Chamika Karunaratna and Dushmantha Chameera tried hitting some big hits in the end, but it was too late.
Sri Lanka ended their innings at a score of 137/6. Venkatesh Iyer took two wickets for India, while Chahal and Jadeja took one wicket each.
