IND Vs SL: India dominates the first T20I, beats Sri Lanka by 62 runs

Ishan Kishan was awarded as man of the match for his explosive inning of 89 runs in 56 balls.

The match began with Sri Lanka winning the toss and deciding to field first. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan put together the opening stand of 111 runs off just 71 balls. Unfortunately, Rohit missed his well-deserved half-century and was sent back to the pavilion at 44 by a good delivery by Lahiru Kumara. With his innings of 44 runs, Rohit Sharma became the highest run-scorer in the T20 format surpassing Martin Guptill.

The pocket-size dynamo Ishan Kishan played a fantastic knock of 89 runs in 56 balls, including ten fours and three sixes. Kishan’s aggressive batting paved the way for India to achieve a high score.

The new captain of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, Shreyas Iyer, played a fierce inning of 57 runs in 28 balls with a strike rate of 203.57. Kishan and Iyer’s exceptional batting display helped India reach a total of 199 runs at the loss of 2 wickets.

Sri Lanka’s innings started with Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fury. Bhuvi seized the wicket of both the openers and ended up his two-over spell by giving away just nine runs. For Sri Lanka, Charith Asalanka (53) was the only batsman who fought hard. Sri Lankan batsmen Chamika Karunaratna and Dushmantha Chameera tried hitting some big hits in the end, but it was too late.

Sri Lanka ended their innings at a score of 137/6. Venkatesh Iyer took two wickets for India, while Chahal and Jadeja took one wicket each. Unfortunately, debutant Deepak Hooda was not able to get any wicket in his first game. Ishan Kishan was named man of the match for his blasting innings of 89 runs.
