South Africa got off to a flying start in the 2nd T20I in New Chandigarh as Quinton de Kock brought up a blazing half-century, reaching his 17th T20I fifty off just 26 balls. At 8.3 overs, South Africa were 75/1, scoring at 8.82 runs per over.

De Kock reached the milestone with a stylish boundary off Hardik Pandya, who delivered a low full toss on middle and leg. The left-hander whipped it towards deep mid-wicket, beating the diving fielder in the deep to bring up his fifty.

At the other end, skipper Aiden Markram was batting on 11 off 15, while India’s breakthrough came earlier when Reeza Hendricks was dismissed for 8 by Varun Chakaravarthy, leaving South Africa at 38/1 in 4.1 overs.

The visitors have scored 47 runs in the last 5 overs, maintaining strong momentum after India opted to bowl first.
