IND vs SA 2021: India blows away South Africa at Centurion

In the opening test match of the series, India registered 113 runs victory and go 1-0 up in the series. KL Rahul brilliant century set the momentum for victory.

IND vs SA 2021 – In the rain-affected match, visitors registered the 113 runs victory to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Led by Virat Kohli, India batted first and on the top of the game on day 1 with a brilliant century of KL Rahul and a valuable contribution from Mayank Agarwal.

Without a single ball bowled day 2 had washed out due to a bad weather forecast and it seems the match could end in a draw. But day 3 had changed the course of the match where India first bowled out and then the hosts had disappointed with the batting.

Day 3 resume at 272/3, with KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane but soon Rabada removed KL Rahul to provide the much-needed breakthrough the hosts were searching for from day 1. And the wicket of KL Rahul had summed up the conclusion of the team.

Soon Rahane departs and the team had just collapsed who was heading towards the big score in the first innings. From 291/5 to 327/10 – visitors had failed to convert the chance. South Africa with the advantage of home conditions had the opportunity to score runs.

Dean Elgar skipper went back to the pavilion on the 5th delivery of the first over to clear the team plans. With no experience in the middle order, South Africa tried to score runs but couldn’t able to manage that against Visitors’ attacks. In reply, hosts were all out at 197 runs in the first innings and handed over 130 runs lead to visitors. Temba Bavuma’s 52 runs were the lone contribution from the hosts in the first innings.

The second innings of visitors was just formality as they were to set the target. Virat Kohli and co-scored 174 runs in the second innings with a major contribution from Pant who scored 34 runs. Kagiso Rabada (4) and Marco Jansen (4) shared 8 wickets each while Ngidi picked up 2 wickets.

South Africa had to chase 305 runs in less than 4 sessions in the match. But they have disappointed again with only contributions from Dean Elgar (77) and remained unbeaten Temba Bavuma on 35 runs. Expect Rassie van der Dussen no other batsman was able to look optimistic to fight in the contest.

In the end, South Africa bowled out at 191 runs and lost the match by 113 runs.
