India’s chase of 124 began in dramatic fashion as Marco Jansen produced another unplayable delivery to dismiss KL Rahul for just 1, leaving India rattled at 1/2 in 2.1 overs on Day 3 of the first Test in Kolkata.

Coming in after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s early dismissal for a duck, Rahul looked unsettled at the crease — and Jansen capitalised instantly. The tall left-arm seamer delivered a sharp snorter from back of a length that jumped unexpectedly, forcing Rahul into an uncomfortable fend. The ball caught the outside edge high on the bat, and wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne completed a clean catch diving across to his right.

The Eden Gardens crowd, already stunned by Jaiswal’s wicket moments earlier, fell into deeper silence as India lost both openers inside the first three overs of the innings. At 1/2, India’s chase of 124 now hangs in early balance.

Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar are at the crease as India attempt to rebuild under pressure.
