Benjamin Lister made his New Zealand debut in the ongoing 3rd T20I against team India at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. Lister’s path into the New Zealand side has been accelerated by Boult’s decision to hand back his New Zealand central contract, as the Kiwis begin their search for the next world-beating left-arm seamer.
Lister, 27, has recently emerged as one of New Zealand’s most promising bowlers in the Super Smash, the country’s premier domestic T20 competition. His economy rate of 8.06 ranks second among fast bowlers who have bowled at least 800 balls in the tournament since making his Auckland debut in December 2017. Only Hamish Bennett is ahead of Lister in this category, but Bennett is no longer playing.
The iconic Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is set to host the series decider game between India and New Zealand. Indian captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first, despite team India’s easy yet tough chase in the 2nd T20I.
