The iconic Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is set to host the series decider game between India and New Zealand. Indian captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first, despite team India’s easy yet tough chase in the 2nd T20I.
Skipper Pandya explains why he chose to bat first in the 3rd T20I –
Hardik Pandya: We’re going to bat first. Want to put some runs and take the game from there. Looks like a very good wicket, we played here in the IPL final where the ball did a bit more in the second innings. Tough on the batters in the last two games, but credit to them for the approach they have shown. This is what as a unit we strive for, we are going to get tested but we will learn from it. These kind of knockout games teach you a lot.
The Indian Cricket Team will be hoping to win the decider on February 1st (Wednesday). In recent T20Is, India has had the upper hand over New Zealand. The Men in Blue must bring their “A” game, as they failed to live up to expectations in both T20Is.
New Zealand will be hoping that Glenn Phillips rediscovers his mojo, as the batter has been torn between attacking and defending, which has hurt the team. Michael Bracewell should be promoted up the order because he can thrash the spinners in the middle overs stage.
