India succumbed to England’s intense bowling and lost the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on the final day. After India’s humiliating 227-run defeat, England took 1-0 lead in the four-match series. England were with the steering throughout the match but English captain Joe Root’s approach made many to frown. Even former England’s skipper Michael Vaughan and Australian legendary spinner castigated his over-cautious approach. But after today’s win, the England team’s official Instagram handle shared a picture of Joe making the DRS sign and captioned it as: “Everyone who moaned about the declaration yesterday #INDvENG #Cricket #EnglandCricket.”
England’s all-rounder Stuart Broad was nimble and commented “Think that’s aimed at you @michaelvaughan?!” Former English captain Michael Vaughan yesterday questioned England’s approach.
On Monday, Warne and Vaughan got engaged on Twitter posting about their displeasure with Joe Root for not declaring the second innings when they head time.
I think he is being get too cautious and is giving India a good chance of getting out of this Test with a draw .. https://t.co/OYGVe8UToI

So you think @root66 is doing the right thing and not declaring ? Need more runs ? Surely should be bowling now…. https://t.co/DGHdLYVir2

What is going on with your cricket team ? What on Earth are they doing just letting the game drift ? Why aren’t they bowling ? England wouldn’t want to not be able to bowl India out now after batting to long in both innings !! https://t.co/gfhjxyeGLr

As England got bundled for 178, the declaration never arrived on Day four. But the visitors managed to set up the target of 420.
