Ind vs Eng: Rishabh Pant takes two stunners on Day 2; check them out

India has been very habituated with the cool man commentating from behind the stumps. One of his kind. MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2008. Since then, India has tried out some different keepers who could level Dhoni’s magic. It perhaps took India seven years to place the “one” behind the stumps who can be called as a “brilliant keeper host”.

He is none other than Delhi-born Rishabh Pant. The 23-year-old has been lauded enough for his contribution with the bat in Test cricket, home and away. But when it comes to being vocal with the gloves on, Pant can outclass any other keeper of his time. The Delhi lad keeps commentating on the game and cheers up the bowlers.

After today’s match, two videos were doing rounds on the internet when Pant not only exhibited his keeping skills but helped to get the visitors trapped. In one video, Pant leapt to his left and took a one-handed catch as Mohammed Siraj registered his first wicket on home soil in Tests. Siraj pitched a short delivery that was going to Ollie Pope’s leg side, Pope just feathered it making the ball landing in Pant’s gloves.

Again, in the 59th over he divided to the left and took an acrobatic catch off Ishant Sharma’s bowling. The victim was Jack Leach.

On Day 2, the visitors were completely irregular in racking up runs. At stumps India are at 54/1 with 249-run lead.
