Heroes are not born overnight. They shed sweats in the backyard rigorously. One day, the world recognises them. Similar is the story of Rishabh Pant. Once, compared to the previous legendary keeper-batsman and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, now Pant has his own brand.
Pant’s century came as a blessing for the hosts when they were tottering against England in Ahmedabad on Day 2 of the last Test. After losing Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane India were only eyeing to remove the deficit as much as they could, let alone having the lead. Pant made it all possible for the hosts. The 23-year-old notched up 101 off 118 smashing two sixes and 13 boundaries.
The century light up Twitter as fans and former cricketers praised him for being himself on the track that was tricky but nothing beyond the horizon of Pant. Former Indian captain and current Board of Control for Cricket in Indian tweeted to applaud the young Delhiite.
“How good is he? Unbelievable..what a knock under pressure…not the first time and won’t be the last time..will be an all time great in all formats in the years to come.keep batting in this aggressive manner .thats why will be match winner and special.. @bcci @RishabhPant17,” Ganguly tweeted.
Apart from Ganguly, former English skipper Kevin Petersen also praised Pant for his mystify.
“Pant backs up Brisbane. Pant is a PLAYER,” Pietersen tweeted.
After bowling out England for 205 on the opening day, India were too not comfortable in the match until Pant put his hands on the wheel.
