After a great comeback by the Indian bowlers on the Day 4 of the Test against England in Chennai, the hopes of winning the match are high. India needs 381-runs on the 5th Day of the match with 9 wickets in hand. England sets a target of 420-runs against India to win the first Test.
Ishant Sharma, the Indian pacer who completed his 300 wickets in Test cricket on Monday believes India can chase down this target if they get a good start tomorrow, as anything is possible with the current batting line-up India have. At the end of the 4th Day play, Ishant Sharma said,
“It all depends on how we start tomorrow. If we get a good start I am sure that we can chase this down. We have a fearless batting line-up and we are very positive so it’s about how we start and then we can think about how we go through the game,”
Ishant Sharma dismissed Lawrence to complete his 300 Test wicket, even though he shared that pitch was a little tough to bowl on. He even called the surface a ‘road’.
“For the first two days, I thought we were playing on a road but yesterday it started to spin a bit more. I think we’ve bowled really well, even on day one or two when the pitch was offering nothing,” said Sharma.
India ended the day with 39/1 with Shubhman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara on the crease and required 381 more runs to win the first Test of the series.
